We’ve all heard it before: “you need an ideal client – a niche!”... but when your spiritual business exists to help people in some way it's natural to want to help EVERYONE (and to feel fear that there's not enough potential clients if you choose a small section to work with).
But not everyone wants or needs to be helped by you.
Let me draw a comparison.
McDonald’s. Everyone knows MaccyD’s. Burgers and fries and milkshakes and McFlurries and (IMHO) the best hash browns ever…
Is McDonalds is for everyone? You might say YES - their website does! But is it? Is it really?
Is it for bodybuilders on a keto diet? Raw eaters? People who like fine dining? People who don't choose fast food? Vegetarians & vegans (RIP McPlant)?
NO.
McDonald’s is for people who like burgers and fries in a fun environment, cheaply and quickly. That’s why their customer didn’t choose Nobu for their meal.
Just like McDonald's is not for everyone, neither are you. Let me explain.
Your ideal client is:
A very specific person,
Probably like you in some way since their specific problem used to be your specific problem,
In need of the solution to your previous and their current problem which you have overcome in some way
and now you want to share that knowledge and use your natural skills to help people.
That’s why you do what you do. To help people…
BUT…
Not everyone has the same exact problem that you did, and of those who do, not all of them need or want your solution AND OF THEM not everyone is a good fit for you.
I do digital marketing and branding workshops,.
For spiritual businesses,
Spiritual businesses that are run by mums,
Which have a more “unusual” side – think professional witches, tarot readers, spellcasters, demonologists, shadowworkers, death doulas etc.
And even more specifically those who need help with clarity in their business and sharing their unusual gifts with the world. Many in this space have endured a lack of support and acceptance and need a marketer who is utterly non judgmental i.e. me. And finally of THEM, the ones who match my vibe, are willing and able to pay my fees with ease and who have open and honest communication are my people. (if this is you by the way get in touch!).
The problem I had as a mum trying to run an unusual business has created the solutions I now share with my people;
1️⃣ Total non-judgement and acceptance of your beliefs, practices and innate gifts (and of the kids in the background!).
2️⃣ 1 or 2 day branding workshops so that you can speak directly to the hearts of your people with clarity for maximum impact.
3️⃣ Practical support with marketing so that your time is freed up to spend where it's needed; on your business serving the people who need you.
I do this with:
a) Traditional digital marketing such as websites, social media, ads etc as a monthly rolling contract or project basis
b) Depending on your needs, a one or two day branding workshop
Not everyone wants my stuff, not everyone can afford it, not everyone will resonate with it. In fact most business people are not spiritual mumpreneurs at all, so they are not my ideal client.
So you see, just like McDonald's, just like Shadowstar Marketing, you are also NOT for everyone.
And that’s OK because….
Niching is not really about you or your business, its about speaking to the hearts of the right people for you. And when you do that you create (what we call in digital marketing) Raving Fans and with just a few of them you will never not have clients.
