Ah A.I. two simple letters that seem to strike fear into many a heart. There's a fear that AI tools will steal jobs and take over social media, leaving humans behind somehow, but I don't believe that is going to be the case and this is why…
I'd like to tell you how I use two free A.I. tools: Midjourney and ChatGPT in my business (feel free to steal my homework).
Midjourney is an image generator which uses prompts such as “... a field of blue poppies against a stormy sky in the style of Edvard Munch” and after a few hundred variations an original piece of attractive artwork will be generated. My logo was generated with Midjourney. I simply don't have the skill to make something like that. You could argue that a designer could have designed it and yes they could… But… I now have a starting point and I've engaged a designer to create visuals around the starting point. And if you think about it what is the difference between using Midjourney and Canva at this point?
This image was created in seconds with that exact prompt. There's no way I could create this myself and a commission from an artist is outside of my budget.
ChatGPT saves me a tonne of time in idea generation. I do not believe it should be used to write copy but as an idea generation tool it is astonishingly powerful. Imagine it’s content idea generation day. I sit at my computer and begin to brainstorm “100 ideas for short instagram captions on the subject of meditation”. How many do I get? 20? 50? More like 10 being me! Now if I stick that same prompt into ChatGPT, in a matter of seconds it has generated 100 ideas (I just timed it - 3 seconds). That's lovely but the real power is when I choose a handful of those ideas and do a number of things…
Example of what chatGPT returned with the above prompt. It gave me 100 ideas to work with.
I use Midjourney to create original pictures based on each prompt and - with a bit of tweaking - I have a tonne of unique visuals for my socials. No need to hunt for stock photos, it’s free and takes a load of work off. I then use the prompts and pictures in conjunction with keyword driven, compelling authentic captions for my audience to find value in, and pop all that into a scheduler and I’m done.
Using the prompt "serenity in stillness" gives me this image. A lovely scene which would make a perfect Instagram post image. Maybe for a meditation reel?
I might then use a follow up prompt such as “write me a series of article outlines for numbers 1, 45, and 89 above”. ChatGPT generates a few points for you to use as a starting point to write your longer form content using your own voice, experience and research.
This is what it gave me - a helpful start for me to use my own voice. NEVER use A.I. to write a whole article. There is a backlash and so much mistrust about A.I. posing as humans. The way you can stand out is to use A.I. as a tool. NOT a replacement for yourself
If I wanted to create a free lead magnet for my audience I may take one or 2 of the ideas from above and ask ChatGPT to work a 5 step outline for a course, or ideas for an ebook or a checklist or a meditation diary or any number of things I can then expand on and use.
So what about real connection? Well you write the post with the ideas generated by A.I. and share it to your audience, your audience comment like and subscribe and you as a human being, not an automated bot, answers. You build trust and connection with people, AND save yourself a tonne of time AND get far more ideas than one human brain can possibly generate. AND you stand out from your competition as a business owner who values connection, humanity and trust.
Of course there is the risk that the things you generate with A.I. can be passed off as your own but we’re all spiritually aware, genuine, authentic, moral humans here and so acting with integrity around this subject means we use A.I. and A.I. does not use us (or our audience).
This is brilliant Kerry!
